Lotte unveiled the list of participants in the 2025 spring camp on the 20th. A total of 41 players, including head coach Kim Tae-hyung and 13 coaching staff and 20 pitchers, five catchers, nine infielders and seven outfielders, will participate in the camp, which will run for a total of 41 days from January 24 to March 5.

Among the 2025 rookie players, Kim Tae-hyun, a first-rounder, and Park Se-hyun, a second-rounder, will join the camp. In the catcher's part, Park Jae-yeop, a fourth-rounder, and Park Geon-woo, who joined the team as a young catcher. Including Baekdu Mountain, who joined the team as a young catcher only for one game ahead of the 2024 season, three out of five players have been designated as rookie catchers. Son Sung-bin, who was on the operating table due to a wrist injury in October last year, was excluded from the list.

Baek played in 68 Futures League games last year, posting a batting average of 0.206 (34 hits in 165 at-bats) with six homers and 20 RBIs. Although his batting average was somewhat low, he showed strength in slugging capability.

Park Jae-yeop, who was drafted in the fourth round of the 2025 Rookie Draft, played for Busan High School last year and posted a batting average of 0.354 (34 hits in 96 times at bat) in 25 games with two homers and 24 RBIs with an OPS of 0.943. After graduating from Korea University, Park joined the team as a pro-baseball player and played a batting average of 0.346 (27 hits in 78 times at bat) in 22 games with a OPS of 0.974 in last year's college league. Since Jangchung High School, Park has consistently played catcher position and made remarkable progress in hitting after going to college.

Lotte's commitment to not depend on just a few catchers is outstanding. At last year's Lotte spring camp, Yoo Kang-nam, Kang Tae-yul, Seo Dong-wook, and Son Sung-bin were named catchers. Among them, Yoo Kang-nam, who was selected as the starting catcher, struggled with a batting average of around 100 percent in the early days of the season before ending the season early due to knee injury in June. Son, who filled the spot where Yoo Kang was absent, showed disappointing performance compared to expectations with a batting average of 0.197 with six home runs and 21 RBIs in 86 games.

Kang Tae-yul recently announced his retirement, and Seo Dong-wook also showed no impressive performance as he recorded a batting average of 0.115 (three hits in 26 times at bat) in 33 games. Last year, Lotte's catcher's team recorded a batting average of 0.193 for the only time in the league, while OPS was the only one remaining in the 0.5 range.

Lotte's home turf will be Yoo Kang-nam, Information-geun and Son Sung-bin this season as well. Considering that Yoo Kang-nam and Son failed to complete the entire season due to injury last year, and that Information-geun has shown clear limitations in offensive capabilities, however, Lotte had to come up with measures to cope with variables that could arise any time. This spring camp will likely be the starting point for its move.
